Isn't 2 more then enough, and when games will require more power you can buy more for much lesser money?

500,000 is a lot of money, I recommend buying a little less now and upgrade later in maybe 5 years or so. That way you will most likely get more value. 4x 7970 is a bit overkill at the moment and when this kind of technology gets cheaper and cheaper almost every day, then i do feel like its unnecessary to spend that much money on a rig. Of course it depends on the usage of which you are going to use it. But if you are mostly going to be gaming, then I would recommend going a little cheaper.

If you can afford it, DO IT!!

Overkill is awesome but in my opinion 2-3 GPUs look much better then 4... Any color theme you have in mind? Could you tell us what other hardware you're gonna get?

I don't think that you would get very far running an ATI 9800 card today, even if you could run 4 of them at the same time.
